When identities clash conflict can develop. If the differences and problems are not addressed intractable conflicts are formed between individuals or groups. Social issues are rooted in these conflicts that have grown, evolved, and have become embedded in society's culture. Throughout history one can find incidences where these issues have been addressed and people have fought against injustice. Historically these periods and waves have been considered social movements.
